On the next edition of One to One with Bill Goodman, John David Dyche, a Louisville lawyer, conservative political columnist and author, discusses his book, Republican Leader: A Political Biography of Senator Mitch McConnell, the story of how McConnell has become Washington's most powerful Republican. The program airs Sunday, June 21 at 1 p.m./noon CT on KET1 and Tuesday, June 23 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.Dyche explains why he chose McConnell as his subject, how he gathered information for the book and why he believes a book about the senator is relevant today. He also talks about McConnell's early years in politics, including his leadership positions in high school and college. Dyche offers some facts about the republican leader that people may not know. For example, McConnell contracted polio as a child, he opposed the Vietnam War and he witnessed Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
The author also discusses some of McConnell's most memorable campaign commercials, the University of Louisville's McConnell Center, the senator's reputation for obstructing legislation and more.
