The 14th season of KET's Jubilee showcases a host of familiar faces gathered in a particularly familiar place: Renfro Valley, Ky. Award-winning artists Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, Dale Ann Bradley and the Grascals return to the Jubilee stage with a noticeably seasoned level of live experience and bluegrass know-how. This season of Jubilee, recorded at the 2008 Renfro Valley Bluegrass Music Festival, airs Wednesdays, beginning July 1 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1 and Saturdays, beginning July 4 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET2.Several performers on this season of Jubilee are no strangers to the series. In fact, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage return to the program for the fourth time. After years of touring the country and playing to an ever-expanding group of dedicated fans -- known affectionately as the "ragers" -- Vincent and crew light up the festival with an arrangement of songs inspired by the band members' everyday lives.
Vocalist Dale Ann Bradley makes her second Jubilee appearance, and, as a regular member of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, performs on some familiar territory. Critics have compared her vocal styles to those of Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss, while Music Row called her "a gentle mountain songbird."
The Grascals, making their second appearance on the program and riding a wave of critical acclaim from their #1 album, Keep On Walkin', offer up a live-sampling of the sound that has secured them a choice place in the hearts of bluegrass fans around the world.
Bluegrass super-group Grasstowne and bluegrass legends Ronnie Reno & the Reno Tradition bring years of practiced musicianship and excellent songwriting to the stage. Also featuring performances from The All American Bluegrass Band; Fast Lane; The Cumberland Gap Connection; and Burchett, Morgan & 5ivespeed, this season's lineup is sure to please fans who enjoy the varied sounds of bluegrass music, from the fast and hard-driving to the sweet, high and lonesome.
