On the next One to One with Bill Goodman, Rev. Nancy Jo Kemper, executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches (KCC), sits down with Goodman to reflect on her long career in ministry and the work of the council as she prepares for her upcoming retirement. The program airs Sunday, June 28 at 1 p.m./noon CT on KET1 and Tuesday, June 30 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.

Kemper talks about how she chose the ministry as her occupation, what she loves about the job and her formal education in religion. A graduate of Transylvania University, Kemper attended Yale for graduate school. She discusses her time in New England and her early seminary work there.

Kemper explains her role at the KCC, a cooperative organization of 11 Christian denominations in Kentucky. Often working with Kentucky legislators, the council addresses a range of issues such as domestic violence, gun control, the environment, health care and more. Kemper delves in to the current debate about expanded gambling, expressing her concerns about the potential revenue source.

The reverend also discusses her more than four decades in the ministry, challenges she's faced at work and at home, and what she plans to do after she retires.

One to One with Bill Goodman is a KET production, produced by Goodman and Cindy Asher. Following the broadcast, One to One is available for on-demand videostream viewing at www.ket.org/onetoone and podcasting at www.ket.org/rss.
