Featuring legendary artists Phil Leadbetter on guitar, Steve Gulley on guitar and Alan Bibey on mandolin, Grasstowne -- a virtual bluegrass super-group -- brings its seasoned brand of bluegrass talent to the 2008 Renfro Valley Bluegrass Music Festival on the next Jubilee. The program airs Wednesday, July 8 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1 and Saturday, July 11 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET2.Bibey, Gulley and Leadbetter have amassed a wealth of bluegrass knowledge and expertise from years of playing in groups such as IIIrd Thyme Out, BlueRidge, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver and J.D. Crowe and the New South. These veterans are joined by Jason Davis on banjo and Jamey Booher on upright acoustic bass.
The band's debut album, Road Headin' Home, was named the 2008 Album of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America.
Jubilee is a KET production that spotlights outstanding Kentucky music festivals. The program is broadcast statewide on KET and distributed to public television stations nationwide.
