KET's Lincoln: 'I, Too, Am a Kentuckian,' a Kentucky Life special following President Lincoln from his birth in a log cabin on the Kentucky frontier to the White House, was awarded three regional Emmy Awards by the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.Producers Joy Flynn and Marsha Hellard won Emmys in the Historical Documentary category for the program. Videographer Matthew Grimm won in the Photography category, and Brent Abshear and Chuck Burgess received Emmys in the Audio category.
"Congratulations to the KET staff, who produced a wonderful documentary celebrating Kentucky's most accomplished native son," said KET Executive Director Malcolm Wall. "The prestige of the Emmy Award is but further recognition of the commitment KET has to telling Kentucky's story."
The Ohio Valley Regional Emmy awards recognize excellence in the areas of local news, programming and individual achievement and are considered to be one of the industry's highest honors. The Ohio Valley Chapter includes 13 television markets from a four-state region, including parts of Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky. The awards ceremony took place Saturday, July 25 in Lexington.
