On the next Jubilee, Ronnie Reno and the Reno Tradition demonstrate the high level of intensity and skill they've gained from years of playing bluegrass music. The program, recorded at the 2008 Renfro Valley Bluegrass Music Festival, airs Wednesday, Aug. 2 6 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1 and Saturday, Aug. 29 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET2.Reno, whose father, Don, is a Hall of Fame bluegrass musician, began playing mandolin with bluegrass bands when he was just a boy. As a professional musician, he has toured with Merle Haggard and Mel Tillis, and worked in the studio with Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty and Willie Nelson. He also spent several years with the Osborne Brothers. Now, Reno heads the Reno Tradition, an act that demonstrates some of the best sounds and moments of traditional bluegrass music.
Band members include Mike Scott (banjo), Jackie Miller (fiddle), Robin Smith (upright bass) and John Maberry (mandolin).
Jubilee is a KET production that spotlights outstanding Kentucky music festivals. The program is broadcast statewide on KET and distributed to public television stations nationwide.
