For more than 50 years, Middleton, Ohio's Hightower family has owned and operated a business that ventured into everything from janitorial services to construction and energy supply. Stephen Hightower, president of Hightower's Petroleum Co., tells his family's success story on the next Connections with Renee Shaw, airing Friday, Sept. 4 at 5/4 p.m. CT on KET2 and Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1:30/12:30 p.m. CT on KET1.Since 1984, Hightower's Petroleum Co. has provided gasoline, diesel, bio-diesel, ethanol and oils in 48 states. Their customers include Ford, Duke Energy, Kroger, UPS and the state of Ohio, among others.
On the program, Hightower gives the history of his family's business and discusses his own unconventional path to success, including his refusal to take a traditional job. The entrepreneur also talks about alternative fuels and the current environmental debates surrounding fossil fuels, solar energy and more.
