Calling all treasure hunters: KET announces new program, Kentucky Collectibles

For Release: 2012-04-17 16:06:00

Production begins with May 19 appraisal fair

KET announces its latest production, Kentucky Collectibles, an Antiques Roadshow-style program that will explore the stories behind Kentuckians and their possessions and help them uncover whether their treasures are more valuable than they think. The program is scheduled to premiere in the fall.

Kentucky Collectibles will be co-hosted by Dave Shuffett, the popular host of KET’s award-winning series Kentucky Life, and Amy Hess, a Lexington native with more than a decade of Hollywood experience.

“I’m honored to partner with Dave and KET to discover our community’s timeless treasures and the heartwarming stories that accompany them,” Hess says. “I can’t wait to uncover these priceless heirlooms that are steeped in the rich culture that make the Commonwealth so wonderfully unique!”

Hess has worked both in front of and behind the camera and has credits ranging from associate producer at Paramount Pictures to guest starring roles on Beverly Hills 90210 and In the Heat of the Night. Hess says that she returned to her home state with the hope of using the skills she honed in Los Angeles to enrich her cherished Bluegrass community.

Production of Kentucky Collectibles begins with the second-annual Kentucky Collectibles appraisal fair on Saturday, May 19. For a donation of $125, individuals will receive a ticket good for an appraisal of two items by a qualified local expert and the opportunity to be part of the series.

Tickets are available by calling 1-800-866-0366 or going online to ket.org/donate.
