KET named a finalist in Toyota’s 2012 100 Cars For Good program
Toyota is donating 100 cars to 100 nonprofits in 100 days; public to choose the winners on Facebook

KET has been selected as one of 500 nonprofit finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, a major philanthropic initiative in which the automaker is giving 100 vehicles to 100 non-profits over the course of 100 days. KET was selected as a finalist from more than 4,000 applications nationwide.

Each day, beginning May 14, 100 Cars for Good will profile five finalists at 100carsforgood.com. Individual members of the public will be able to vote for whichever nonprofit they think can do the most good with a new vehicle. The nonprofit with the most votes at the end of each day will win one of six Toyota models. Runners-up will each receive a $1,000 cash grant from Toyota.

KET will be up for consideration on Wednesday, May 16. Voting goes through midnight EST.

KET’s six regional education consultants travel on a daily basis to school districts in all 120 counties in Kentucky throughout the year, consulting and providing free teacher professional development on the effective use of KET’s instructional resources and integrating technology in the classroom. Other KET education staff members provide similar outreach and in-person consulting and training for early childhood professionals, adult educators and other educational and community groups.

In 2011, KET’s education consultants made 814 school visits and provided 441 workshops across the state.

“We’re thrilled to have been selected as a finalist for the 2012 100 Cars for Good program,” said Shae Hopkins, executive director and CEO. “We’re grateful for this incredible opportunity to enhance our education outreach and service across the state. Winning this vehicle would allow us to reach even more students, teachers and schools across Kentucky. We hope everyone will help us start spreading the word now and vote for us by visiting 100carsforgood.com on Wednesday, May 16.”

The latest information on the contest and a reminder of when to vote are available on KET’s Facebook page. For complete information on 100 Cars for Good and profiles of all 500 finalists, please visit 100carsforgood.com.
