Zombies, ghosts and a Kentucky-born psychic are the spooky subjects of the next Kentucky Life, hosted by Dave Shuffett.

The program meets the characters who congregate on Bardstown Road for the annual Louisville Zombie Attack; Paranormal Investigators of Northern Kentucky try to find explanations for claims of paranormal activity; in Voices of Elmwood, actors portray deceased residents of Daviess County and tell their stories at gravesides; and Shuffett investigates the life of Hopkinsville native and clairvoyant Edgar Cayce. The program airs Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Sunday, Oct. 28 at 4/3 p.m. CT on KET.

Each year in Louisville, the dead rise and congregate on Bardstown Road for the Louisville Zombie Attack. More than 5,000 people in gruesome makeup and tattered zombie costumes participate, making the event one of the largest zombie walks in the United States. The zombie walk, which is in its eighth year, began as a birthday celebration for three friends who share the same birthday with Michael Jackson, and word of mouth helped to bring in more participants over the years.

Then, the program spends some time with the Paranormal Investigators of Northern Kentucky, known as PINK, an organization that observes, documents and tries to find explanations—natural or otherwise—for claims of paranormal activity at sites in the Northern Kentucky area. PINK uses a wide range of technology, including infrared cameras, digital audio recorders and environmental measurement devices.

Next, the program explores Voices of Elmwood, a popular annual collaboration between the Owensboro Museum of Science and History and the Daviess County Public Library. Actors portraying people from the region’s past tell their stories at graveside to guests who ride through Elmwood Cemetery on wagons.

Finally, Shuffett investigates the life and prophecies of Hopkinsville native Edgar Cayce, a famous clairvoyant who answered questions about the future while in a trance-like state. Cayce’s clients included Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Edison and George Gershwin.

Kentucky Life is a KET production, produced by Brandon Wickey. Segment producers are John Schroering, Shuffett, and Frank Simkonis.
