Next Louisville Life features Blackacre State Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead, an interview with Mayor Greg Fischer and more

For Release: 2012-12-20 12:09:00

The next Louisville Life, hosted by Candyce Clifft, visits Blackacre State Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead, samples the tempting treats of Adrienne & Co. Bakery and Café, talks with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, and explores the unique space of The Marcus Lindsey. The program premieres Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7/6 p.m. on KET and Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. on KET2.

Located only 25 minutes from downtown Louisville, Blackacre State Nature Preserve is a place where urban children can still “see what a farm was like.” Visitors can explore the grounds and trails, watch and feed horses, cows and goats in open pastures, tour the historic homestead, and participate in many of the educational programs. Blackacre is also a partner of the Jefferson County Public Schools system, hosting outdoor education programs and field trips.

Also on this program, Louisville’s 50th mayor checks back in with Louisville Life two years into his term. Clifft talks to Mayor Fischer about his accomplishments so far and plans for Louisville’s future.

Next, the program stops by Adrienne & Co. Bakery and Café across the river in downtown Jeffersonville, Ind. Adrienne has won multiple blue ribbons from the Kentucky State Fair, and Muhammad Ali’s cake for a recent birthday celebration was made at the bakery. In addition to sampling award-winning cakes and pastries, Louisville Life shows viewers the café’s selection of classic deli sandwiches, salads, wraps, and house-made pastas.

In addition, the program shines a light on The Marcus Lindsey, a landmark downtown church that has been turned into a living and event space by Louisvillians Pip and Susan Pullen-Swope. The venue is a unique space, and its preservation is important to the city and to the increasingly hip NuLu neighborhood.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is co-producer, and Angelic Phelps is associate producer.
