The next Louisville Life, hosted by Candyce Clifft, profiles saxophonist Jamey Aebersold, looks at Louisville’s Waterfront Development Corporation, tours Leonard and Adele Leights’ home, and chats with the executive director of the Muhammad Ali Center. The program premieres Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7/6 p.m. on KET and Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. on KET2.

For 45 years, the name Jamey Aebersold has been synonymous with the very best in jazz education. The New Albany, Ind., saxophonist and teacher has traveled the globe fulfilling a lifelong mission to teach people how to play jazz. Beginning in 1967, he pioneered and developed the “Play-A-Long,” a learning concept that has been responsible for changing the practice habits of thousands of musicians worldwide. In 1989, the International Association of Jazz Educators inducted Aebersold into their Hall of Fame.

Next, the program takes a look at how the city’s waterfront was revitalized through the efforts of Louisville’s Waterfront Development Corporation.

Also on this program, Louisville Life takes a tour of the home of Louisvillians Leonard and Adele Leight. Throughout the last 40 years, the Leights have created one of the leading studio art glass collections in the country. The collection is arranged throughout their unique home, which was built in 1968 in the “modern” style.

In the studio, Clifft talks with Donald Lassere, executive director of The Muhammad Ali Center.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is co-producer, and Angelic Phelps is associate producer.
