Next Louisville Life features Bittners furniture, Louisville Zombie Walk and more

For Release: 2013-01-22 12:54:00

The next Louisville Life, hosted by Candyce Clifft, visits the Bittners furniture exhibit at the Frazier History Museum, stops by Brownsboro Hardware, meets ghoulish characters of Louisville Zombie Attack, and sits down with the director of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. The program premieres Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7/6 p.m. on KET and Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. on KET2.

Long known for its hand-crafted furniture and impeccable design services, the history of Bittners in Louisville goes back to 1854. This Louisville Life segment explores Bittners’ past and present day and showcases “Top Drawer,” a special 4,000-square-foot exhibit at the Frazier History Museum.

Next, the program checks out Brownsboro Hardware & Paint, which opened in the fall of 1960. The store has undergone two major expansions, most recently in 2008. Current owners Jim and Marilyn Lehrer have a staff with a combined hardware experience of more than 300 years helping customer needs.

Also, each year in Louisville, the dead rise and congregate on Bardstown Road for the Louisville Zombie Attack. More than 5,000 people in gruesome makeup and tattered zombie costumes participate, making the event one of the largest zombie walks in the United States. The zombie walk, which has completed its eighth year, began as a birthday celebration for three friends who share the same birthday with Michael Jackson, and word of mouth helped to bring in more participants over the years.

In the studio, Clifft talks with Dr. LaQuandra S. Nesbitt, director of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. Nesbitt joined the department as director in July 2011 and is also an assistant professor at the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is co-producer, and Angelic Phelps is associate producer.
