KET encourages completion of GEDŽ test by reminding learners 'Your Future Is Calling'
New promotional campaign and website emphasize that individuals must complete test this year or be required to start over

With the announcement that GED Testing Service will use an all-new, computer-based assessment beginning in 2014, KET is encouraging individuals to complete the GEDŽ test soon, as the deadline for taking the current test approaches.

"This is an important time for those wishing to earn a GEDŽ diploma," said KET Director of Adult Education Tonya Crum. "People may not be aware that scores from the current test will expire at the end of this year."

For those in Kentucky without a high school diploma, KET is currently running a multi-week promotional campaign to not only encourage completion of the GEDŽ test, but also to offer assistance through GED Connection, KET's complete test-prep system. The campaign consists of new TV spots running on KET as well as on commercial broadcast stations in Louisville and Lexington. There is also a heavy online component to the campaign targeted to individuals throughout the state.

The theme of the campaign is "Your Future Is Calling" and reminds learners in an amusing way how their futures could be tied to their education. The promotion aligns to and was developed in partnership with GED Testing Service's national push to encourage finishing the GEDŽ test.

A completely redesigned website for learners – – was also recently launched as part of this effort. Here, learners can find helpful resources and answers to common questions, and they can also take advantage of KET’s latest offering, the GEDŽ Locator tests. These free online tests, in all five GEDŽ subject areas, allow learners to determine where they are in their studies and which set of KET materials will help them best prepare for the GEDŽ test.

"Some people who take the Locator tests prove they are already test ready, and we direct them to their local GEDŽ testing center," said Crum. "For others, we assess exactly where their study needs are and recommend a custom study plan once they've signed up for our GED Connection service.

"This remains one of the best values in GEDŽ preparation," continued Crum.

With a $50 enrollment fee, students receive workbooks, practice tests, live tutoring assistance and a test-fee voucher that covers $60 of testing fees (the full amount of the paper-and-pencil version of the test or part of the computer-based version). This is all in addition to the acclaimed KET-produced video series covering all areas of the test and available via broadcast and online.
