In Tip and the Gipper: When Politics Worked, Matthews offers a personal history of a time when two great political opponents – President Ronald Reagan and Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill – served together from 1980 to 1986 for the benefit of the country.
In the program, Matthews discusses his up-close view of the two political leaders’ relationship, from his role as a top aide to Speaker O’Neill.
Dionne is heard weekly on NPR’s All Things Considered, covering “The Week in Politics” with David Brooks and Robert Siegel.
