KET presents Affordable Health Care Act Enrollment, a special live informational call-in about enrollment in the state-based health insurance marketplace Kynect, on Monday, Oct. 7 at 9/8 p.m. on KET.
The open enrollment period for the Affordable Health Care Act runs from October 1, 2013, to March 21, 2014. The exchange was established as a result of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as “Obamacare.”
Scheduled panelists include:
-Secretary Audrey Tayse Haynes, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services
-Carrie Banahan, executive director, Office of the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange
-Commissioner Lawrence Kissner, Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services
Kynect is a web-based marketplace for individuals and small businesses to compare coverage, provider networks and costs for insurance plans. State health officials will answer viewer questions related to enrollment and provide information about Medicaid expansion, payment subsidies and opportunities to purchase private insurance for people ineligible for Medicaid, and more.
