Next on Jubilee from the IBMA Fan Fest in Nashville: Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, Jaclyn Sites, Kids on Bluegrass

For Release: 2013-07-08 09:05:00

On the next edition of Jubilee, recorded live at the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Fest in Nashville, three acts take the stage: premier fiddler Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, 2012 Grand Master Fiddle Champion Jaclyn (Jacie) Sites, and the youthful performers of Kids on Bluegrass. The program premieres Tuesday, July 30 at 8/7 p.m. on KET and Saturday, August 3 at 11/10 p.m. on KET2.

Considered one of the premier bluegrass fiddlers of his generation, Michael Cleveland of Charlestown, Ind., picked up a fiddle at the age of 4. In 1993, he was chosen to be part of the Bluegrass Youth All Stars at the IBMA awards show, and later that year, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut as a guest of Alison Krauss.

Cleveland has received many IBMA awards during his career, including instrumental group of the year honors in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He received the instrumental recorded performance of the year award five times and has been named instrumental performer of the year for fiddle nine times.

Jaclyn (Jacie) Sites, an accomplished violinist, cellist and fiddler, is the 2012 Grand Master Fiddle Champion. She has performed on stage with Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck and Ricky Skaggs, in addition to being the youngest fiddler to win the Oregon State Fiddle Championship at the age of 21. Sites is also the founder and president of Strings for Kids, a non-profit in Idaho that has loaned instruments and taught violin lessons, free of cost, to more than 850 children.

Kids on Bluegrass is part of the California Bluegrass Association. Children ages three through 18 with musical skills rehearse and perform at festivals. Some of the graduates of Kids on Bluegrass have become professional musicians and appear on stages all over the world.
