For Release: 2013-08-16 10:12:00On the next edition of Jubilee, recorded live at the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Fest in Nashville, three acts take the stage: 2012 IBMA emerging artist of the year nominee Darrell Webb Band; Kentucky-based group Newtown; and bluegrass icon Jesse McReynolds and his group The Virginia Boys. The program premieres Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8/7 p.m. on KET and Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11/10 p.m. on KET2. The Darrell Webb Band performs acoustic music throughout North America and Canada at outdoor music festivals, concert venues, clubs and private parties. Webb has recorded with Dolly Parton, Bobby Hicks, Marty Rabon and bluegrass legend Rhonda Vincent, and his 20-year career also includes performing with banjo pioneer J.D. Crowe. Newtown, based out of Lexington, Ky., is made up of five musicians who blend bluegrass and newgrass sounds. Kati Penn, who does vocals and plays the fiddle, began the band. Penn, who began playing the fiddle at the age of 10, has been heavily influenced by Alison Krauss throughout her career. Jesse McReynolds, known for his mandolin playing, has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1964. In the early 1950s, McReynolds and his brother Jim formed Jim & Jesse and, along with their band The Virginia Boys, performed throughout the world and in every state except Alaska. When Jim passed away in 2002, the brothers were the longest active professional brother duo in country music history.
