On the next edition of Jubilee, recorded live at the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Fest in Nashville, two acts take the stage: young, high-energy quintet The HillBenders and "bluegrass poet" Donna Ulisse with her band The Poor Mountain Boys. The program premieres Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 8/7 p.m. on KET and Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11/10 p.m. on KET2.
The HillBenders, a dynamic bluegrass quintet from Springfield, Mo., with their high-octane shows, tight harmonies and stunning instrumental prowess, have been winning fans and making waves at every festival to which they have been invited. Recently signed to the Nashville-based music company Compass Records Group, the HillBenders will release their new album Can You Hear Me? on September 25.
Fans know Donna Ulisse as an artist on Atlantic Records where she was signed and released the album Trouble At The Door in 1991. After Ulisse's deal on Atlantic Records ended, she turned her attention to songwriting, and she was recently nominated, for the second year in a row, for an IBMA bluegrass songwriter of the year award.
