Louisville chef Edward Lee co-hosts third season of popular series The Mind of a Chef, giving prominent spotlight to Kentucky cuisine

Two new food series premiere on KET this fall

Celebrated chef Edward Lee, who for the past decade has honed his culinary skills at Louisville’s 610 Magnolia restaurant, has been tapped to co-host PBS’s popular series The Mind of a Chef in its third season, which will air Mondays at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET2 beginning Sept. 8 and Thursdays at midnight/11 pm on KET beginning Sept. 11. Swedish chef Magnus Nilsson, whose world-renowned restaurant Fäviken has been called one of the most unique on Earth, co-hosts with Lee. The show is narrated by executive producer Anthony Bourdain.

The Mind of a Chef blends cooking, travel, history, humor, art and science into a cinematic-style journal, each episode going deep into inspirations and the creative drive behind some of the culinary industry’s greatest minds.

Lee, a Korean-American who grew up in Brooklyn and trained in New York kitchens, came to Louisville in 2002 to be a part of the blossoming New Southern food scene. In addition to 610 Magnolia, Lee also operates Louisville’s The Wine Studio and MilkWood restaurants.

With Lee as co-host, Kentucky cuisine will feature prominently in The Mind of a Chef season three:

• In Episode 304, “Louisville,” airing Monday, Sept. 29 at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET2 and Thursday, Oct. 2 at midnight/11 pm on KET, Lee examines how the move to Louisville has inspired and shaped his cooking.

• In Episode 305, “Kentucky,” airing Monday, Oct. 6 at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET2 and Thursday, Oct. 9 at midnight/11 pm on KET, Lee travels Kentucky to explore the culinary treasures of the Bluegrass State, including country ham and sorghum. • In Episode 307, “Bourbon,” airing Monday, Oct. 20 at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET2 and Thursday, Oct. 23 at midnight/11 pm on KET, Lee takes an in-depth look at Kentucky’s signature spirit, showcasing what it takes to make a perfect bourbon.

“Ed Lee blends big city and international experience with small town heart and focus in his food,” said Joe Caterini, the show’s executive producer.

Joining The Mind of a Chef in KET’s fall daytime season line-up are two new food shows: Tina’s Ageless Kitchen and Food Forward.

In Tina’s Ageless Kitchen, airing Thursdays at 10:30/9:30 am on KET2 beginning Sept. 11, chef Tina Martini leads viewers through the healthy aspects of cooking and buying fresh produce and vegetables.

Food Forward, airing Fridays at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET2 beginning Sept. 12, shares the stories of food rebels across America – those who are striving to create more conscious, sustainable and delicious alternatives to what we eat and how we produce it.
