For Release: 2013-10-28 09:32:00The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) recently honored 20 public broadcasters, including KET, with national awards. KET earned three awards.
Tim Bischoff, Elly Dotson, Dennis Goodman, Abigail Malik, Lisa Meek, Todd Piccirilli, Lindsay Sainlar, Steve Shaffer, Ellen Soileau and Brandon Wickey were recognized for their work on the community outreach event Commonwealth Cleanup, a collaboration of the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection’s Division of Waste Management and KET’s program Kentucky Life. Viewers were asked to become active participants in cleaning up the state during the week-long Commonwealth Cleanup, and it culminated with a special Earth Day edition of Kentucky Life, featuring the event and other environmental stories from across the state.
In addition, Tim Bischoff, Christian Caldwell, Elly Dotson, Rob Elliott, Dennis Goodman, Abigail Malik, Lisa Meek, Erin Lowry Milburn, Todd Piccirilli, and Ellen Soileau were recognized for their work on the promotional campaign for the first season of KET’s newest program, Kentucky Collectibles.
And Julie Berry, John Dawahare, Lisa Meek and Todd Piccirilli were recognized for their work with the 2013 Summer Celebration press kit.
“KET is honored to be recognized at this year’s NETA awards,” said Shae Hopkins, KET’s executive director. “Congratulations to our staff for their exceptional work and to the public we serve for their continued support that makes our educational programs and services possible. We can all take pride in this national recognition.”
In all, NETA presented 25 awards in the areas of program production, promotion, outreach and instructional media. The celebratory presentation was part of NETA’s annual conference, held this year in Atlanta.
