|KET’s 25th Annual Summer Celebration a Blockbuster|
The silver anniversary of KET’s fundraiser Summer Celebration salutes the silver screen — big and small. Hosts Mira and Don Ball and a star-studded lineup of past honorary chairs welcome you to the glitz and glamour of the golden era of Hollywood. They’re rolling out the red carpet on Friday, June 7, from 7 p.m. to midnight at Donamire Farm in Lexington.
A horse farm “set” and “big-budget” feast by DaRae & Friends, some 300 “reel” treasures in the silent auction, and the brassy sounds of The Jimmy Church Band highlight the event. Josh Hopkins, star of Cougar Town, is making a celebrity guest appearance along the Walk of Fame. If you dare, come dressed as your favorite TV/movie character to add to the fun.
Auction items include University of Kentucky men’s basketball lower arena season tickets, jewelry, home furnishings, fine art, autographed Hollywood memorabilia, sports packages, vacations, and much more.
Host Sponsors (to date) are: Alliance Coal, LLC; Alltech; Brotherton Brown Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management; Brown-Forman; Hardscuffle, Inc.; Hilliard Lyons; Ann and Terry McBrayer; and US Bank.
“Our generous friends and committee volunteers make it possible for Summer Celebration proceeds to benefit KET programs and related educational services, and this 25th anniversary event is really a tribute to them,” said Shae Hopkins, KET executive director and CEO.
“A record 1,069 KET supporters attended last year’s fundraiser as this event has consistently grown over 25 years in the making,” said Michele Ripley, president of the Commonwealth Fund for KET. “To date, previous Summer Celebrations have raised nearly $3.5 million to advance the mission of KET.”
