For Release: 2013-03-18 09:01:00The next Louisville Life, hosted by Candyce Clifft, explores the new Why Louisville II shop, the Families Outside X-ploring initiative, unique art at Pyro Gallery, and Community Foundation of Louisville. The program premieres Saturday, April 13 at 7/6 p.m. on KET and Thursday, April 18 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. on KET2. Why Louisville is an eccentric gift shop created in 2005 by Lebowski Fest founder Will Russell. In March, Russell expanded his shop by opening Why Louisville II in the NuLu neighborhood. Louisville Life spotlights Russell and the new store that specializes in locally designed shirts and accessories, books and magazines, gifts and cards, and general curiosities. Next, the program visits an organization that encourages Louisville families to put down the video games, turn off cell phones, and go outside and explore. Sponsored by the Metro Parks Department, Families Out X-ploring, or FOX, is a series of events designed to get families into the great outdoors. The program follows naturalist Christa Weidner as she leads a group through Jefferson Memorial Forest to see why itís important for families to go outside and play. This Louisville Life program also visits Pyro Gallery, which recently moved to East Market Street. Pyroís artists select which of their works to exhibit, and because they work in so many different mediums, including clay, metal, weaving, fabric dyeing, oils, watercolors, acrylics, photography, and more, shows are often experimental and surprising. In the studio, Clifft talks with Susan Barry, president and CEO of Community Foundation of Louisville. The organization works to strengthen the Louisville metro area through philanthropy and stewardship by partnering with donors and others to ensure lasting impact among community members. Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is co-producer, and Angelic Phelps is associate producer. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at ket.org/loulife.
