Dale Ann Bradley earned national critical acclaim and top-10 slots on both the bluegrass and country charts with her breakout 1997 solo debut, East Kentucky Morning. With the album's release, favorable comparisons to Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss and impressive reviews showered the Kentucky native and long-time member of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance. Billboard lauded Bradley's "angelic voice," while Music Row called her "a gentle mountain songbird with a shimmering delivery, marvelous purity of tone, soprano trills and lonesome bent notes." With her band, Coon Creek, Dale Ann Bradley brings her critically acclaimed mountain bluegrass to Jubilee.
Bradley learned her powerful singing style in the Primitive Baptist Church, where her father was a minister, and began performing at the age of 14. In 1989 she became a member of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance and was a regular on the famed Sunday Morning Gatherin' radio show for eight years.
In 1992 she joined the New Coon Creek Girls--formed in 1979 as one of only a handful of all-female groups in the history of bluegrass/acoustic music--as guitarist and lead singer. Following the tremendous success of Bradley's East Kentucky Morning release, the group shifted focus and acquired male members. Dale Ann Bradley and Coon Creek debuted in 1997.
With Bradley's voice as its centerpiece, flanked by a multi-talented support team, the group excels on everything from hard-edged bluegrass and soul-stirring gospel numbers to tear-jerking country love songs and wistful folk ballads. The group's knockout Jubilee performance was taped at the 2000 Osborne Brothers Hometown Festival in Hyden, Ky.
Jubilee is a KET production, produced and directed by H. Russell Farmer. The show is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Viewers can find out more about programming on KET by visiting the KET Web site at http://www.ket.org.
