Bluegrass fans will enjoy this performance from one of the most celebrated groups of the 1990s as IIIrd Tyme Out takes the Jubilee stage. The program highlights the band's definitive quartet singing that has become the standard by which other contemporary groups are judged.Since forming in 1991, the group has dominated bluegrass industry awards. Six-time winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Vocal Group of the Year Award, IIIrd Tyme Out has earned critical acclaim while consistently bringing their material to the top of the bluegrass charts.
IIIrd Tyme Out, featuring Russell Moore, Ray Deaton, Mike Hartgrove, Wayne Benson and Steve Dilling, has recorded seven albums, including their most recent release, John and Mary, and one live album, Live at the MAC.
With its blend of contemporary classics and new interpretations of seminal bluegrass tunes, Live at the Mac, writes critic Jon Weisberger, represents "a bold reply to those who claim that the makers of modern bluegrass have lost touch with the spirit and sound of yesterday's giants. Moving the listener is what it's about, and IIIrd Tyme Out has the artistry and soul to do it."
IIIrd Tyme Out brings their talented blend of contemporary and legendary bluegrass to Jubilee in a performance taped at the 1999 Festival of the Bluegrass at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.
Jubilee is a KET production, produced and directed by H. Russell Farmer. The program is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Viewers can find out more about programming on KET by visiting the KET Web site at http://www.ket.org.
