KET Presents pbs
Improvisational bluegrass/country band, Continental Divide, takes the Jubilee stage
Bluegrass band Continental Divide brings an exciting blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass and pure country music to the Jubilee stage. The members of this versatile and talented Nashville-based group have played with such notable bluegrass bands and individuals as the Bluegrass Cardinals, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Del McCoury, Bobby and Sonny Osborne and Béla Fleck.

Continental Divide features David Parmley on guitar, Scott Vestal on banjo, Mike Anglin on bass, Randy Kohrs on dobro (respohonic guitar) and Rickie Simpkins on mandolin and fiddle.

Parmley says the band owes its diverse music to the wide musical interests of the individual members. "Basically, our music is whatever we like to do [at the time we're performing]," he adds. "Our shows are not pre-planned."

Previous performances by Continental Divide on Jubilee have included an interesting combination of tunes, including "Someone Took My Place with You," "One More Night with You," "You're Going To Miss Me When I'm Gone," "Somehow Tonight" and "Nine-Pound Hammer." This set also includes several fast-moving instrumental numbers, including "Fireball" and "Foggy Mountain Special."

Jubilee is a KET production, produced by H. Russell Farmer. Nancy Carpenter is executive producer. The program is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
