KET Presents pbs
Mike Holloway, the "south paw from Arkansas," on next Jubilee
Mike Holloway
Mike Holloway

Mike Holloway and The Bottom Line bring impressive blues talent to the Jubilee stage. Holloway, who has earned a stellar reputation backing up such artists as Magic Slim, B'nois King and Debbie Davies, steps out front on this episode. Taped at the 1999 W.C. Handy Blues Festival in Henderson, Mike Holloway and The Bottom Line scorch their way through an impressive set.

Known as the "south paw from Arkansas" and influenced by such blues heavyweights as Z.Z. Hill, Jimmy Reed and the three Kings (Albert, B.B. and Freddie), Holloway ranges from traditional Delta blues to Texas shuffles. His upside-down, left-handed guitar playing is an amazing visual addition to his sonic mastery.

Jubilee is a KET production, produced by H. Russell Farmer. Nancy Carpenter is executive producer. The program is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
