As the winner of 19 Emmy Awards and a five-time honoree for excellence in consumer reporting by the National Press Club, John Stossel is a household name in broadcast journalism. The highly acclaimed ABC News correspondent talks about the state of journalism and his approach to the news with host Bill Goodman on this edition of One to One. Stossel also talks about the genesis of his book Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel—Why Everything You Know Is Wrong.
Stossell joined the ABC News magazine program 20/20 in 1981 and was named co-anchor in May 2003. Since 1994, he also has produced several one-hour prime-time specials for ABC.
After graduating from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1969, Stossel began his journalism career at KGW-TV in Portland, OR. He then spent several years as a consumer reporter at WCBS-TV in New York before joining ABC. In his early years at the network, Stossel was consumer editor at Good Morning America.
