One to One with Bill Goodman:
Bob Hill
aired January 5, 2007
Acclaimed for his unvarnished analysis of the local scene as well as his touching portraits of ordinary folks, Louisville Courier-Journal columnist and author Bob Hill has become an icon in Kentucky journalism. He talks current events and shares some favorite stories from the past with host Bill Goodman on this edition of One to One.
Hill has been a columnist for the Courier-Journal (and Louisville Times) for almost 30 years. He also has written books on a wide variety of subjects, including the history of basketball, the Louisville Slugger bat, bipolar illness, gardening, the Louisville YMCA, and the true-crime story of a Louisville man who got away with murder.
In the program, Goodman traces how Hill, who attended Rice University on a basketball scholarship, ended up as a newspaper reporter and a sort of “everyman” philosopher. Hill also discusses his other business as co-owner and operator, with his wife, Janet, of Hidden Hill Nursery and Sculpture Garden.
