One to One with Bill Goodman:
Sue Grafton
aired May 11 and 13, 2007
“A” might be for “alibi,” but it’s also for “author” as host Bill Goodman welcomes internationally acclaimed mystery writer Sue Grafton to One to One.
Grafton, author of the popular Kinsey Millhone alphabet series of mystery novels, was born and raised in Louisville and maintains a home there as well as one in Montecito, CA. An international bestseller with a readership in the millions, she published the 19th book in the alphabet series, ‘S’ Is for Silence, in 2005. At the time of the One to One interview, ‘T’ Is for Trespass was in the works.
She believes in the mystery format, Grafton says, because “the mystery novel offers a world in which justice is served. Maybe not in a court of law, but people do get their just desserts.”
In the interview, Kinsey Millhone fans get the word on what “Z” will stand for. Goodman also asks Grafton about her Kentucky background, her work and career, and her participation along with other renowned mystery authors in the inaugural International Mystery Writers Festival at Owensboro’s RiverPark Center in June 2007. The festival presented professionally staged performances of 12 new mysteries, chosen from hundreds of submissions from around the world, which competed for “Angie Awards” named for Tony, Emmy, and Academy Award winner Angela Lansbury. KET followed the process of staging several of the plays for a fall 2007 arts production.
