One to One with Bill Goodman:
Robert Sexton

aired June 22 and 24, 2007

On this edition of One to One, host Bill Goodman talks about issues facing Kentucky schools with Robert Sexton, founding executive director of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence.

Founded in 1980, the Prichard Committee is an organization of parents and citizens dedicated to promoting improvements in education in Kentucky. Sexton has served as the group’s director since its inception.

In his book Mobilizing Citizens for Better Schools, Sexton writes that the Prichard Committee was created “to galvanize the citizens of Kentucky to attack the state’s historic educational deficits.” He describes how the organization’s campaigning helped prepare the way for the passage of the Kentucky Education Reform Act in 1990 and how it continues to work on behalf of school reform efforts.
