Bill Goodman speaks with Kentucky Poet Laureate Jane Gentry Vance about Kentucky poetry and poets on this edition of One to One.
Vance was appointed poet laureate for the 2007/08 term. She is the author of several books of poetry, including A Garden in Kentucky, a collection of 60 poems deeply rooted in place, mortality, and the capturing of moments. On the program, she reads several of her own works and talks about the activities and responsibilities that come with the poet laureate honor.
A Garden in Kentucky was one of two Kentucky collections featured in the 2006 bookclub@ket Poetry Double Feature. Vance was also featured in another special edition of bookclub, 2004’s A Kentucky Christmas.
