On location at Western Kentucky University, host Bill Goodman talks politics and policy with U.S. Rep. and former presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Texas) on this edition of One to One. The program was taped before Paul’s announcement that he was withdrawing from the 2008 presidential race.
Paul discusses the economy, the war in Iraq, and other issues at the forefront of the 2008 presidential election. He also talks about his campaign goals, the differences between the current campaign and his 1988 candidacy as the Libertarian candidate, and the remarkable enthusiasm and contributions of his supporters. He also mentions one of his most popular campaign tools: a series of cookbooks compiled by his wife, Carol, which contain recipes from family, friends, and supporters.
Paul also delves into his relationship with the media, including his popularity on the Internet and his appearances on The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Meet the Press. He discusses some of his sources of inspiration, which range from Austrian economic theory to the U.S. Constitution. And he explains his concerns about the current economic downturn, gives his take on the policies of John McCain and Barack Obama, and discusses his book The Revolution: A Manifesto.
