Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, outlines the group’s political principles and objectives on this edition of One to One with Bill Goodman. The program was taped on location at the Capitol Annex in Frankfort.
Norquist, who grew up in Weston, MA, was educated at Harvard University. He founded ATR in 1985, at the request of President Ronald Reagan, and has headed the organization ever since.
Americans for Tax Reform is a lobbying organization made up of taxpayer groups, individuals, and businesses opposed to higher taxes at the federal, state, and local levels. The organization promotes a single-rate flat tax and coordinates the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, asking all candidates for federal and state office to commit themselves in writing to opposing all tax increases.
In the interview, Norquist also discusses his book Leave Us Alone: Getting the Government’s Hands Off Our Money, Our Guns, Our Lives, which details his vision of political conservatism.
