On this edition of One to One with Bill Goodman, Bill speaks with Doug Whitlock, president of Eastern Kentucky University.
Whitlock, a Madison County native, was named the university’s 11th president in 2007. He discusses his goals for the university, state budget cuts for higher education and other topics.
Whitlock is a two-time graduate of EKU, holding a bachelor’s degree in history and social science and a master’s degree in history. He also talks about his own background, including his 38-year career at EKU as a teacher and administrator. He has also served on the Madison County school board, including two terms as chair, and as a consultant with the Kentucky School Boards Association.
He also discusses his recent trip to Japan. He blogged about the trip and posted photos on the EKU web site.
