In his victory speech, incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell urged Republicans to unite for the campaign battle ahead. He also thanked two of the most important women in his life.

McConnell focused much of his remarks on the policies of President Barack Obama and current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, which he said have hurt Kentucky and the nation.

In seeking to replace Reid as Majority Leader, McConnell pledged to repeal the Affordable Care Act, rein in liberal judges, and end the war on coal.
