In her victory speech, Democrat and Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes rallied her supporters for the general election campaign against incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell.

Grimes said McConnell has been on the wrong side of important issues, including raising the minimum wage, pay equity, labor unions, and job creation. Grimes pledged to put the concerns of Kentuckians above the interests of whoever occupies the White House.

Grimes said she opposes the “war on coal,” and vowed to fight for coal's place in the national energy policy.
