KET Launches Public Media Partnership
KET has begun a partnership with public radio stations in Kentucky to air KET series and programs. This partnership will launch initially with WEKU in Richmond and WKMS in Murray. WEKU reaches nearly all of Eastern Kentucky and the Bluegrass/Central Kentucky region. WKMS reaches Western Kentucky and the Four Rivers Region.

Kentucky Tonight: Tuesdays at noon CT
Connections: Wednesdays at 6:30 pm CT
On WEKU
Kentucky Tonight: Tuesdays at 11 am ET
"Access through television and radio to in-depth regional and local news is crucial," said Shae Hopkins, KET executive director and CEO, "and this partnership gives Kentuckians another way to obtain the information they need to make informed decisions and learn about important issues."
KET is in discussions with all public radio stations in the state and will be announcing more partnerships in the coming weeks.
KET's news and public affairs programs have been trusted mainstays of Kentucky politics and policy for more than 35 years. This partnership launches as KET covers developments in the 2012 legislative session.
"I believe our listeners will value hearing KET's Kentucky Tonight, One to One, and Connections, and I applaud the efficiency of this collaboration," said Kate Lochte, WKMS station manager.
KET series and programs available to public radio stations for broadcast will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- KET's weekly news and public affairs programs: Kentucky Tonight, Comment on Kentucky, One to One with Bill Goodman, and Connections with Renee Shaw
- General Assembly coverage with Legislative Update
- Education Matters, KET's monthly series exploring the educational issues that face Kentuckians
- Complete coverage of candidate forums and elections
- KET's nationally acclaimed music series Jubilee
"We are excited to expand our partnership with KET to include Kentucky Tonight in January and other programming down the road. This arrangement will be a significant boost to our ability to cover issues in-depth and is a great complement to our award-winning newsroom,” said Roger Duvall, WEKU station manager.
