The 21st century will be marked by an unprecedented, dramatic increase in the size of the older population as the Baby Boomer generation ages. Many, if not most, adults will be both caregiver and cared-for in their lifetimes, as advances in medical technology continue to make it possible for individuals to survive for years with diseases and chronic conditions that would have meant rapid death just a few years ago. This program explores the increasing role caregiving plays in the lives of all Americans, regardless of income, ethnic background, or geographic location.
