Recounts the 25th Infantry's bicycle trip from Missoula, MT to St. Louis, MO in 1897. The African-American unit took the trip to test a theory that the bicycle would replace the horse in transporting men for the U.S. Army. Archival film, photographs, and interviews with historians also examine the life of the black soldier at the turn of the century, focusing on First Sergeant Mingo Sanders, the main motivator of the enlisted men.
