Crucible of Empire: The Spanish-American War

Explores the dramatic events leading up to war between America and Spain in 1898, which effectively ended the Spanish empire while making the United States a world power. Narrated by Edward James Olmos, the story is told largely in the words of the war's principal players, from President McKinley, Under Secretary of the Navy Theodore Roosevelt, and newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst to leaders of the revolutions in Cuba and the Philippines.
