Southwestern author Rudolfo Anaya, known as the father of Chicano literature, comments on his early yearnings to become a writer, his creative process, and his affinity for la raza (the people) and la tierra (the land) of New Mexico. The interviews are punctuated by readings from Bless Me, Ultima; Albuquerque; Who Killed Don Jose; and A Chicano in China.
