Heaven Touches Brooklyn in July

Actors John Turturro and Michael Badalucco narrate this documentary about the feast of San Paolino, an event that takes place every July in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The centerpiece of the celebration is the "Dance of the Giglio" (pronounced "jill-yo," Italian for "lily"), in which 125 men carry a five-ton, five-story, hand-sculpted tower and a 15-piece brass band-on their shoulders-and dance through their neighborhood in time to original folk music. This monument to faith, folk art, and family honors San Paolino di Nola and his heroic act of sacrifice in the ancient Italian city of Nola in the year 409 AD.
