High Stakes at the Salton Sea

Created by an engineering blunder 100 years ago, the Salton Sea became a haven for wildlife and a major stop along the Pacific Flyway for millions of migratory birds. But today its water level is dropping, steadily increasing the chemical concentrations in the remaining water. Without human intervention, it could become a deathtrap for migratory birds with nowhere else to go. Can it be saved, or should this artificially created habitat be left alone to wither and die a natural death in an unnatural system? Actor Val Kilmer narrates.
