Examines alcoholism's lingering effect on young children through interviews recorded at a summer camp in 1986, follow-up visits with two of the same children 17 years later, and statistics about the prevalence of alcoholism and the likelihood that children of alcoholics also will succumb to the disease. Case studies illustrate how caring adults can increase a child's chances of leading a healthy, productive life.
