Long Journey Home

Known as a Grandfather Tribe among other American Indians, the Lenape, or Delaware, occupied America's Eastern woodlands and were among the first Native Americans to make contact with white settlers. A series of forced migrations ultimately led to the tribe's current home, in Oklahoma. This look at the past and future of the Lenape culture includes an interview with ceremonial chief Leonard Thompson, one of the last members of the nation to grow up speaking the indigenous language.
