Volunteer American doctors from Interplast travel to the Mekong Delta of Vietnam to perform reconstructive surgeries on children suffering from debilitating birth defects and other crippling injuries. Founded in 1969 by Dr. Donald R. Laub, Interplast organizes 35 such trips a year to locations around the globe and has changed the lives of tens of thousands of children. This Academy Award-winning film explores the lasting effects of this medical aid on the Vietnamese children-and on the American volunteers.
