The Armenians: A Story of Survival

In 301 A.D., Armenia became the first nation on Earth to adopt Christianity. This documentary explores the journey and struggle of the Armenian people from their humble beginnings near the Middle East, where they were identified only by their different language, through countless wars to defend their faith and domination by numerous empires to their near-elimination in the first genocide of the 20th century to the birth of the Armenian nation. Olympia Dukakis narrates, and scholars and writers such as Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel, Dr. Robert J. Lifton, and Peter Balakin offer insights. Catholicos Karekin II, leader of the Armenian Church, and Armenian President Robert Kocharian are also interviewed.
