Toyo Miyatake: Infinite Shades of Gray

In the 1920s and '30s, Toyo Miyatake was the foremost studio photographer in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo. When he and other Japanese Americans were rounded up into internment camps during World War II, he smuggled a lens and film holder into the Manzanar camp and became the first photographer to capture life behind the barbed wire.
