KET’s Electronic Field Trip to the Aviation Museum of Kentucky is a fun and educational visit celebrating 100 years of powered flight. The 15-minute video spotlights several museum exhibits, including the first aircraft built and flown in Kentucky and the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame, and features segments on women in aviation and Kentucky aviation pioneers. A look at the Aviation Museum’s annual Summer Camp for students ages 10-15 demonstrates how the study of aviation fits into many curriculum areas, including science, math, and social studies. See the Core Content page for more specific suggestions on academic correlations for aviation studies.
The video field trip, designed for use in grades 3-12, supports Kentucky Academic Expectations 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.6, 2.20, and 2.36. The program is a 2003 KET production, in partnership with the Aviation Museum of Kentucky.
